HD Tune Pro is a hard drive diagnosis, maintenance, benchmarking and information utility. It features drive write/read benchmark tests, single and multiple random 4k file read/write tests, error scan, PC heath status reports, secure erasing of a drive, and many more.

One of HD Tune Pro's nice features is the disk temperature monitor. With this feature the program can run on the system tray monitoring the current temperature of the hard drive, and alerting the user if the temperature reaches a given temperature (default is 55 degrees Celsius or 131 degrees Fahrenheit). This is specially useful for hard drives working in hot environments to alert about possible mechanical failure due to constant exposure of your hard drive to high temperatures.

Another very useful feature is the file eraser tool. This tool will securely erase a given hard drive, by overwriting all data marked as 'empty' (but still recoverable by file recovery software) with various methods, which are zero-fill, random fill, DOD 5220.22-M and Guntmann.

It is also worth mentioning that HD Tune Pro is compatible with newer SSD Drives, and the read/write speed tests will give you an idea of the real performance of your hard drive.
